WELCOME TO THE RIVER TERRACE GARDEN CLUB
The River Terrace Garden Club is about enjoying, sharing and promoting a green environment within our River Terrace community. Most people among our community grow and enjoy at least one plant. Some have a few plants and flowers, while others are growing a veritable plant filled wonderland. We grow green houseplants, flowering orchids, cacti, and trees. We raise herbs and vegetables both indoors and out. We derive pleasure from planting, tending and watching our plants come to life and thrive.
The River Terrace Garden Club is a group of friends and neighbors who enjoy planting and gardening. This social club (it’s not a committee), is open to everyone in the building, novice and expert alike.
We donate our time and all of our new plants are donations from a variety of sources. The automated drip irrigation systems for the gardens were designed and set up by our members. We like to grow herbs, flowers and other plants, a sometimes-difficult task in a semi-urban setting.
During the past three years, we have accomplished the following (which we hope you have noticed):
1. We filled the barren lobby patio with beautiful containers filled with colorful perennial flowers (flowers that return to bloom again each year). We received very favorable compliments from our fellow shareholders all spring and summer.
2. We planted a flowering Magnolia tree and several hydrangea bushes in the front lawn and garden. All were donated.
3. We cleared away rubble and debris and started a terraced community garden in the rear of the building which is open to everyone, not just experienced gardeners.
4. We completed step one of the pool patio flower garden development two summers ago. Our lilies, hydrangeas and other flowering plants are thriving. In fact our hydrangeas are some of the biggest and most beautiful we have seen anywhere!

PLANT SITTING
We are arranging for members to offer plant sitting services to other members who go away on weekend outings or vacations.
Aside from growing our own indoor decorative plants and even vegetable gardens, the River Terrace Garden Club has created plans to beautify three areas of the River Terrace Apartments property. To read the article, click here.
